What a film! One of the best I’ve seen in 2025. I couldn’t wait to watch it again. This is the most unusual vampire film I’ve seen. It’s so original yet doesn’t try to question the established mythos too much.

The musicality is extraordinary and completely unexpected. Miles Caton is a revelation in his debut, and has the most gorgeous voice.

There are multiple layers to the story that add so much depth, and stakes, to the film. Riveting from start to finish.

I finally got around to watching Sinners. Wasn’t ignoring it, just needed the time. This is fabulous. I love how Ryan Coogler is able to normalize representation in genre. It sucks that he even has to, but he does it with aplomb. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this kind of vampire film forever. Did I know I wanted a film about vampires being fueled by music? No! But is it awesome anyway? Absolutely. The music is so amazing here. And Miles Caton’s voice is unbelievable. When he started singing, my face was Stack’s face. Not kidding.

I’ll say that the second act was less coherent and more choppy than Coogler’s usual. But it has that absolutely gobsmacking musical interlude that… in all honesty, I never expected. It cannot be matched. It is surreal, and beautiful. And perfectly shot. That scene was pure genius.

I love these characters. They’re so fascinating and layered. And, one thing I love about Coogler’s work, he gives the women their due. They’re interesting and flawed and well drawn out.

I cannot get over this film. I love it!
